  • Bullet point, Underline, Bold and Italize your notes

  • Google Drive backup & restore

  • UI/UX refresh for better navigation

  • Login token expiry

  • Colored notes will also be deprecated for consistency across IOS/Android

Q: Is Google Drive required for V2?

  • Yes, only for backup/restore purposes

  • No other drive files will be accessed

🔄 What’s New in V2 (vs V1)

Q: How is V2 different from V1?

Version 2 of the Sermon Notes app introduces several key improvements over Version 1:

  • Cloud Backup: Notes are now backed up securely to the cloud, reducing risk of data loss and making it easier to sync across devices.

  • New Formatting Options: While notes in V2 are no longer color-coded, users can now use bullet points, italics, bold, and underlining to format their notes.

  • Future-Ready Architecture: V2 is built with an updated app framework that allows for new features to be added more easily in future updates.

  • Improved Supportability: The app now includes monitoring capabilities, which help the support team troubleshoot issues faster and more effectively.

⚠️ Common Issues & Workarounds

Q: The header of the IL Sermons app is cut off on my OneUI phone. How can I fix this?

A: This issue is likely caused by the camera cutout interfering with the app's layout. To resolve it:

- Open Settings

- Tap Display

- Select Camera cutout

- Find IL Sermons in the list

- Choose Hide camera cutout

This will adjust the app’s display to avoid the camera area, restoring full visibility of the header.

Q: I'm using a One UI device and I don't see any note-taking features like bold, italics, or underline. Why is that?

A: This is a known issue specific to One UI devices. These phones use a custom keyboard that overrides the native keyboard developed by the app, which disables formatting options like bold, italics, and underline. Our team is actively exploring workarounds to restore full functionality. We appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime.

Q: I exported my notes, but the text in the sermons.ilc and notes.ilc files looks like a bunch of weird symbols. Is that normal?

A:  Yes, that's expected. Both the sermons.ilc and notes.ilc files are encrypted to protect your content. The symbols you see are part of the encryption process and not meant to be human-readable. To view the actual notes, you'll need to open them within the ILC_App, which automatically decrypts the files.

Q: I exported my notes to Google Drive from the ILC_App on iOS, but the sermons.ilc file appears blank. Is this a problem?

A: This is a known behavior with the Google Drive mobile app on iOS. While the sermons.ilc file may appear blank on your phone, the content is still intact. To confirm, please check your Google Drive on a desktop browser—you should see the full content there. Make sure the ILC_App folder and the sermons.ilc file are properly synced and visible on your desktop. If it is still blank, please fill out the form below or reach out to the IT team.

Q: Google Drive permission prompt feels intrusive. Do I need to provide it?

A: Granting Google Drive access is optional and these permissions are only needed if you want to back up or export your notes to your personal Drive.

We do not access any of your other files—only the folder created by the app for your sermon notes.

If you're not comfortable, you can continue using the app without linking Google Drive.

Q: What happened to the old app?

A: of Oct 2025, we will no longer support the old app or upload any new sermon notes to it.

We’re transitioning the entire congregation to the new V2 app, which includes improved features, cloud backup, and ongoing support.

Please download and switch to the V2 app as soon as possible to continue accessing sermon content and note-taking features.

Q: Why do I get logged out consistently from the app? Why does it say my password is incorrect?

A: For security reasons, your login session will automatically expire after 180days. This means you may be logged out from time to time.

If you see an error saying your password is incorrect, it’s likely that the access code has been refreshed. Please contact your life group leader to retrieve the most updated login code.

Q: Why did you remove the colored notes while typing?

A: We've transitioned away from auto-colored notes in V2 to ensure a more consistent and stable experience across both iOS and Android.

Instead, we recommend using the new formatting tools—bold, italics, and underline—which give you even more flexibility and control over how your notes appear.

Q: I'm on iOS and my cursor jumps around as I type.

A: This seems to happen when Predictive Text is enabled. We recommend turning it off to avoid this issue.

To disable it on IOS, go to: Settings > General > Keyboard > Toggle off Predictive Text.
