Ephesians 6:16 (AMP)
Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
The Shield of Faith protects us from the fiery darts of the enemy, enabling us to stand firm against his strategies.
The enemyโs flaming arrows can come in the form of fear, doubt, discouragement, false accusation or anxiety.
Fear sounds like, โIf I trust God, will He really meet all my needs?โ
Doubt sounds like, โIs He really good, and does He really love me?โ
Discouragement sounds like, โI will always fail, and God will not forgive me this time.โ
The Bible describes Satan as the accuser of the brethren. He is constantly throwing false accusations at believers.
Revelations 12:10 (NIV)
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: โNow have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.โ
To deploy the Shield of Faith is to put our complete trust in God.
When we choose to die to ourselves daily and entrust our lives completely to Him, we hold up the Shield of Faith, blocking the arrows and quenching the fire.
We strengthen our Shield of Faith when we hear and apply the gospel and Christโs teachings.
Romans 10:17 (AMP)
So faith comes from hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the [preaching of the] message concerning Christ.
There are also times when we come under heavy enemy fire.
This is when we, as the body of Christ, take the Testudo formation and help each other stand firm.
We also grow our faith through prayer.
Prayer is incredibly important. Jesus sits at the right hand of God, always interceding on our behalf. This demonstrates the importance of prayer!
Have you got your Shield of Faith up?
We need to actively choose to put our complete trust in Him in this spiritual battle!

and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news].
With spikes for grip, a Roman soldierโs feet can remain firm and steady in the midst of battle.

It helps us not only stand our ground, but take enemy territory.
Satanโs territories were gained through deceit and trickery. These are not actual land or geographical boundaries, but the souls of man under bondage and slavery to sin.
Retaking territories means bringing the Good News to people who are still enslaved and bound by Satan.
Isaiah 52:7 (NIV)
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, โYour God reigns!โ
The feet of the messengers are beautiful because of the value of the message they carried- hope for deliverance.
What Exactly is โPeaceโ in the Gospel of Peace?
The peace that comes from Christโs righteousness is an armour which enables us to stand firm in the evil day.
The Good News brings peace to those who are bound in the enemyโs territory.
Unless we first put on the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness, we can become ineffective as bearers of the Good News.

Do you have your armour on?
When we apply all of Godโs precepts, we put on the full spiritual armour.
Put on the full armour of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armour of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11 (AMP)
The Breastplate of Righteousness protects our spiritual heart.
What is the Heart from a Biblical Perspective?
The Bible teaches that the heart encompasses our inner being and God vacuum (spirit) as well as our thinking, choosing and emotions (soul).
True righteousness comes from Christ alone
We are all sinners and only made righteous in Godโs sight because Christ imputed His righteousness to us.
He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness].
2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMP)
Although we are now made righteous, we still need to choose to live life Godโs way.
We are called to live a righteous life which expresses gratitude to God for our salvation.
The opposite of righteousness is iniquity. When we continue in repeated, entrenched patterns of sinful living, we walk around with a damaged armour and give the devil a chance to attack us.
To live in righteousness is not to be perfect but to a posture of humility and live in repentance like David.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.

![#MINDRENOVATION | Just as our physical bodies need the nourishment of food, our spirits also need to be nourished by the Word of God.
Itโs not enough to hear the Word week in and out or to accumulate biblical knowledge without biblical understanding.
Knowledge appeals to our flesh, but living it out keeps us humble.

Applying the Word of God is what makes us true followers of Christ. Knowing the Word without applying it leads to self-deception and ultimately causes us to become religious and proud.

But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying Godโs precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth].

Proverbs 29:1 (AMP)
He who hardens his neck and refuses instruction after being often reproved (corrected, criticized), will suddenly be broken beyond repair.
If we harden our hearts to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and repeatedly choose to continue in our own sinful ways, we will eventually reach the end of Godโs grace and mercy.
Ezekiel 36:26 (NOG)
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will remove your stubborn hearts and give you obedient hearts.
Do you have a hardened heart? How responsive are you to the conviction of the Holy Spirit? Let us be true disciples of Jesus who hear the Word, meditate on it, and apply it to our lives. Our desire is to become more and more like Christ.
