![#MINDRENOVATION | Just as our physical bodies need the nourishment of food, our spirits also need to be nourished by the Word of God.
Itโs not enough to hear the Word week in and out or to accumulate biblical knowledge without biblical understanding.
Knowledge appeals to our flesh, but living it out keeps us humble.

Applying the Word of God is what makes us true followers of Christ. Knowing the Word without applying it leads to self-deception and ultimately causes us to become religious and proud.
James 1:22 (AMP)
But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying Godโs precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth].

Proverbs 29:1 (AMP)
He who hardens his neck and refuses instruction after being often reproved (corrected, criticized), will suddenly be broken beyond repair.
If we harden our hearts to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and repeatedly choose to continue in our own sinful ways, we will eventually reach the end of Godโs grace and mercy.
Ezekiel 36:26 (NOG)
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will remove your stubborn hearts and give you obedient hearts.
Do you have a hardened heart? How responsive are you to the conviction of the Holy Spirit? Let us be true disciples of Jesus who hear the Word, meditate on it, and apply it to our lives. Our desire is to become more and more like Christ.

In this day and age, our access to the Word of God is unprecedented. Yet, do we treasure it?
Psalm 119:17b-18 (AMP)
That I may live and keep Your word [treasuring it and being guided by it day by day]. Open my eyes [to spiritual truth] so that I may behold wonderful things from Your law.
We need to study the Word for ourselves.
Having biblical knowledge is not the same as having biblical understanding.
1 Corinthians 2:13 (PHILLIPS)
It is these things that we talk about, not using the expressions of the human intellect but those which the Holy Spirit teaches us, explaining things to those who are spiritual.
The Bible warns us against the accumulation of knowledge without application. Knowledge puffs us up, but living it out with the help of the Holy Spirit humbles us and makes us true disciples of Christ.
Do you delight in the Word?
Psalm 1:1-3 (NKJV)
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
The bible warns us clearly that in the last days, lying preachers will deceive many and lead them astray.
As believers who want to go deeper in the things of God, let us dive into the Word, delight in it, meditate on it, internalise it and live it out!

How is your prayer life?
Do you tend to pray only when you need something?
And do you stop praying when you donโt get what you want?
Why do our prayers seem to go unanswered? The Bible gives us several reasons, here are a few.
Sometimes we have not because we ask not.
God wants us to ask for what we need. Secretly hoping for something in our hearts is not the same as asking Him in prayer.
Prayer is vital to our walk with God. Just as communication is essential in any relationship, prayer is foundational to our relationship with Him.
When we remain in wilful sin instead of bringing it to light through confession and repentance, our prayers remain unanswered.
Psalm 66:18 (AMP)
If I regard sin and baseness in my heart [that is, if I know it is there and do nothing about it], The Lord will not hear [me].
Some prayers also go unanswered because we ask with the wrong motives and attitudes in our hearts.
James 4:3 (PHILLIPS)
And when you do ask he doesnโt give it to you, for you ask in quite the wrong spiritโyou only want to satisfy your own desires.
Prayer is not about getting God to do our will. Rather, prayer changes us and aligns our hearts to His will.
Doubt can also get in the way of answered prayers.
James 1:5-8 speaks of Godโs desire to help us and give us wisdom generously when we ask for it. But if we have inward reservations, they become barriers to receiving what God wants to give us.
We ought to ask with sincere and unwavering faith!
When God says โno,โ He has something better.
When He says โnot yet,โ He is never lateโHe is always on time!
Ultimately, we must recognise God cares and wants the best for us. Letโs not despair easily but learn to trust Him.
When we look at the way Jesus prayed, we see that prayer is first and foremost about communion with God.
We donโt pray to get things from Him, but to enjoy fellowship with Him.
As we posture ourselves in humility, we grow in intimacy with Him, and everything else begins to fall into perspective.
Prayer is vital, so letโs make prayer a lifestyle!

We need to get rid of distractions and instead:

God has set us up for success. The question is: are you doing your part?
Have you taken an inventory of your thought-life? What would a mental scan reveal?
Itโs time to fortify our minds with Godโs Word!
God can do the impossible through a mind that is submitted to Him, so letโs make room for Him!
